Walt Disney Pictures Analysis

Walt Disney Pictures is a huge studio and distribution company that finances and distributes films. A few films that the company has produced and distributed are Aladdin (2019); The Jungle Book (2016); The Lion King (2019); Beauty and the Beast (2017) and Lady and the Tramp (2019). Aladdin is a musical comedy film that stars Will Smith, Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott and Marwan Kenzari. The film was released to 4,476 theatres and made over one billion dollars on a one hundred and eighty-three-dollar budget. The film has had mixed to average reviews but has won a Saturn and a People’s Choice Award. The Jungle Book is a fantasy adventure film that stars Ben Kingsley, Bill Murray, Idris Elba and Scarlett Johansson. The film opened in 4,028 theatres and made over nine hundred and sixty-six million on a one hundred and seventy seven million budget. The film has generally favorable reviews but has won numerous awards including an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects and a Saturn Award for Best Fantasy Film.

            The film The Lion King starring Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Alfre  Woodard. This film is an animated musical film. The film opened in 4,725 theatres and made over one point six billion dollars on a budget between two hundred and fifty to sixty million. The film also had mixed to average reviews. It has won five awards including Guinness World Record, The National Film & Television Award and People’s Choice Awards. It is also in the running for an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. Beauty and the Beast is a musical romantic fantasy film starring Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans and Kevin Kline. It had a budget of one hundred and was released to 4,210 theatres and made sixty-three point eight million dollars. The film gained positive reviews and received two MTV Movie awards and two Hollywood Film Awards. Lady and the Tramp is musical romance film with Tessa Thompson, Justin Theroux as the main leading actors. It has not made any money because it was released through the new streaming service Disney+ nor has it been released in theatres. The film however has mixed and average reviews and was nominated for two awards at the Visual Effects Society Award. The film is somewhat new and only exclusive to Disney+.

            Walt Disney Pictures mainly focuses on different film subjects to be more diversify and reach out to expanded audiences. The company’s budget tends to be over thirteen point two billion and tends to be according to Hollywood very good and beyond what other studios budgets. Some of the films they make are more animation and family friendly mainly musicals or dramas and a few comedies. Lot of the films that are released go onto win many awards during the awards season and go beyond film festivals. They focus on films that are mainstream or very well liked or are liked by many fans. Some films try to gain popularity of being the highest grossing films of the year. Most of the films will have two or three recognized film actors or actresses. Disney on most of their posters and promotions highlight this or once in a while the title as the main point of the films. Some when released on DVD, Blu-ray or streaming service points out what awards or how much it has made.
